We use GIS to create numerous maps to benefit and help manage the natural resources and protect the health and environment of the reservation. This maps include; pollutants, oil spills, open dumps, wetlands, and water quality data.

Simply put, it is one attempt at representing the real world in a controlled environment such as your computer monitor, or on a paper map.
