West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus is spread during the summer months by mosquitoes infected with the virus, and is a health concern on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation.

Hantavirus

Hantavirus is spread by exposure to dust that contains urine, saliva, or droppings of an infected rodent, usually a deer mouse. Has been a concern in the Four Corners area in the past, and residents should take precaution and maintain clean homes and workplaces.


Plague
Plague is no longer a disease of the Middle Ages; it is alive and well in Southwest Colorado. Precautions should be taken to avoid exposure.
Radon

Radon is a cancer causing, colorless, and odorless gas. It has been found in homes across the U.S.
