Work with Communities to conserve resources and protect the environment in order to increase the quality of life for all members and future generations of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe (UMUT).
Water is the most precious resource and its availability is limited regardless of dry or wet period. Many factors affect the availability and capacity of wastewater treatment. So it is responsibility of every person to continue and increase water conservation efforts to support the human population growth and to protect the functions of environment.
The Towaoc and White Mesa Water System is owned and operated by the UMUT. It serves over 2,200 residential, commercial and industrial accounts in Montezuma County Colorado and San Juan County Utah.
The EPD offers curriculum materials and other resources to Towaoc, White Mesa and surrounding area’s educators and youth leaders who are interested in inspiring youth become environmental stewards.
